Balance+Plus Caloric Airrigator II
The Air Caloriser for "Dry" Vestibularis Examination
1. High reproductivity of the stimulus
2. Accurate supervision of the temperature
3. No water connection necessary |
||
The Balance+Plus Caloric Airrigator II is used for "dry" thermal examination of the vestibular organ by means of air. Special features are an extremely precise temperature control and an exact dosage of the air flow - with unchanged stimulation period, a constant level of the transmitted thermal energy is guaranteed. Thus, high reproductivity is achieved, making the BP Caloric Airrigator most suitable for use in all medical ranges where, for medical reasons, water cannot be used as stimulating medium or in rooms with no water connection.
Stimulation period can be preset from 1 to 99 seconds and air temperature may be adjusted to values between 20°C and 47°C. Clearly arranged operating elements and easy operation of the BP Caloric Airrigator facilitate the vestibularis examination.
The tube tips, which are to be put onto the exchangeable adapter for preventing injury to the eardrum, can be autoclaved and thereby protect against contamination by germs.
Assessment: Calorics (optional caloric equipment needed to provide this service)
CPT 92543
Caloric vestibular test, each irrigation (binaural bithermal stimulation constitutes four tests), with recording
Brief:
The caloric tests evaluate the viability of the peripheral end organs by stimulating them with warm and cool water.
Extended:
The caloric tests evaluate the viability of the peripheral end organs by stimulating them with warm and cool water while the patient's eyes are closed. The resulting dizziness and nystagmus is taken as an index of the viability of the organ. The eyes are then opened to evaluate the ability of the CNS to visually suppress inappropriate dizziness and nystagmus.
